Residents of Slough are being invited to take part in the first ever State of the Borough debate taking place on Thursday 17 July. Run along the lines of television’s Question Time, the State of the Borough brings the council, and other key local figures from public, voluntary and business organisations together in a specially convened panel to take questions from residents and debate issues affecting the borough and its residents. ![]() Two independent facilitators will be coordinating proceedings along three themes: Questions can be submitted in advance and there are bookable spaces for residents who wish to attend. The event is ticket only with tickets now available online. Councillor Dexter Smith, leader of the council, said: “I would like to personally invite residents and anyone who works or studies in Slough to sign up and join the State of the Borough debate. “We promised we would engage with more people in more ways, to get out and about to listen to residents’ views, wants and needs. “This first ever State of the Borough debate is bringing not just the council, but our partners in the public, voluntary and business sectors, into the heart of the community. “We want to put our communities at the forefront of what we do and how we do it; in building our priorities, our vision for the future and our forward planning. “This is the opportunity to have your say to key local people, directly and unfiltered. So, sign up to come along and put in your question now.” More information including links to book tickets and ask questions is available on the council’s website www.slough.gov.uk/stateoftheborough The debate will be taking place at Slough and Langley College, Station Road, Langley, SL3 8BY on Thursday 17 July from 6.30 to 8.30pm.
