Responding to community feedback |
||
|
Changes have been made to improve access at a green space, based on feedback and concerns from the community. A perimeter fence was installed around the Eltham Avenue car park in July. This was to secure the car park, and it was carefully chosen to maintain visibility around the green space and the car park. The council acknowledges there was no advanced notice of this fence being installed and it led to a petition being created by residents. This petition was heard at a council meeting in November, and it was agreed key council representatives would meet residents on site to discuss the concerns. After the meeting, feedback was taken on board, and changes have been implemented. One request was to improve and enlarge the hard standing around the outdoor gym areas. In response, we have installed a pathway from the main path to the outdoor gym area. Another concern was having a suitable path or paving to allow for disabled access from the street to the football pitches. This has been ordered and we will be working to get this installed over the summer. Works are underway to procure new boilers for the changing rooms for hot water facilities, with the aim to be in place before the new season. Lighting was raised as an issue and improved lighting will be installed prior to the next football season. The council is pleased to have been able to come to a resolution which resolved the main issues reported since the fence was installed. It enables residents to continue enjoying the open space and green gym and enjoy healthy activities in the fresh air.
