Building pride in Britwell and Foxborough |

Slough Borough Council is taking the first steps in creating neighbourhood boards to drive Pride in Place improvements in two areas of the town.
In March, the government announced their third tranche of Pride in Place funding – with Britwell and Foxborough areas of Slough chosen by government, based on their data, as two of the recipients.
Investment could be several million in the next few years and continue for up to 10 years. This will be administered by the council but is about long-term community-led change.
To support this, neighbourhood boards will be established that are charged with engaging the whole community.
Boards should be made up by a majority of local residents and stakeholders including local politicians and should be chaired by an independent person.
To start the process, the council is holding an online seminar for anyone working, living or operating in Britwell or Foxborough where people interested in either being one of the chairs of the neighbourhood boards, part of the neighbourhood boards or involved in the programme can get more information.
The online seminar will be at 5pm on Thursday 4 June.
People wanting to register for the event on 4 June can do so on the webinar page: Pride in Place Britwell/Foxborough Briefing
The council are considering running another online seminar later in the month if interest is high and people cannot make the 4 June event. Further, more localised, engagement will also take place.
Sonia Khan, the council’s director of strategy, communities and engagement, said: “Pride in Place for Britwell and Foxborough is not a one off injection of cash or about tackling one issue or problem.
“It is a long-term programme to be designed with local people and communities, building their capacity in very distinct areas, with sustainable change driven by local communities.
“We are hoping this programme helps open up new ways of working for the council, to take a community-based approach that can be applied toother parts of the town as well, potentially unlocking investment for these places as well.
“We want to invite those who are interested to come to our webinar, learn more and consider being part of the boards which will make this programme and this funding a reality in their areas.”
This programme is separate from the Pride in Place Impact Fund, announced earlier this year which is providing £1.5 million to physical – known as capital – projects across the town.
