The autumn term of adult learning courses will begin on 14 September. There is still plenty of time to enrol for a course, run by the council’s adult learning team. There are courses suitable for all skill levels, including for: English – for those who want to develop their confidence and fluency in EnglishESOL – for speakers of other languages to gain the English skills to access local services independently and communicate effectively with family and friends in EnglishMaths – for those who already have some basic knowledge and would like to develop further for everyday situations and in the workplaceDigital Skills - for those who are new to using computers and other devices, and those who want to improve so they can apply for jobs, and use their skills in the workplace, with their family or at home when browsingHealth and wellbeing – there are a range of courses to support health and wellbeing, including exercise, cookery, dressmaking, Pilates and sewing. Different courses are run during the year so please check the course website to find out more. Councillor Puja Bedi, lead member for children’s services and lifelong learning, said: “There is a great variety of courses available. Residents who attend these courses pick up great new skills, expand on existing ones and even earn qualifications which look great on their CVs. “Have a look online at our enrolment site as I’m sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy.” To enrol on a course, you will need to attend an assessment session with the team. Some of our courses are free (attend an assessment session for information). There are enrolment sessions at The Curve in August and September before the term starts.
