Fraud and Cyber Prevention Fair in Oxford

Thames Valley Police and Oxford Brookes University have joined forces to run an event to educate students and members of the public on the risks of fraud and cyber-crime.

Date: Wednesday 20 March
Time: 11am – 3pm
Location: Main Forum of the John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus, Gipsy Lane.

Experts in fraud prevention will be in attendance to offer face to face advice and demonstrate the practical measures you can take to help minimise your risk of becoming a victim of fraud.

Learn how to identify certain types of credit or debit card fraud, develop your knowledge of how to protect your digital technology or receive advice about recognising loan sharks.

There will be live scam demonstrations, stalls and presentations from industry professionals.

Tickets and booking are not required, so please feel free to just turn up.

Presentations in the John Henry Lecture Theatre:

  • 12.15pm – 12.45pm – Friends Against Scams, Trading Standards
  • 12.45pm – 1.15pm – Take Five to Stop Fraud, Tony Blake, Dedicated Card & Payment Unit
  • 1.15pm – 1.45pm – Safeguarding the Vulnerable Against Fraud, Detective Inspector Duncan Wynn, Thames Valley Police
