Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police are advising shoppers and drivers to be extra vigilant following a scam that happened yesterday (18/07) in a Supermarket car park in Newbury.

A male approached a driver saying that someone had hit their car and that the driver should get out and have a look. The driver got out and looked around the car. At this time, unbeknown to the driver, another male had opened the passenger door and had taken their wallet. The driver got back into their car and when they had realised what had happened, they followed and confronted the male, who then made a call to the other male and the wallet was returned to the driver with nothing missing.

Please check out the Thames Valley Police website for more information on scams and ways to prevent yourself from being a victim.
