Warning - Fraudsters Impersonating Police Officers

Alert message sent 06/08/2022 08:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

The following message is sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police. Please share this with your friends, family and the more elderly in our communities, who might not have access to Social-Media.

"Fraudsters are impersonating police officers, requesting help to carry out a 'sting' operation to catch  members of a criminal gang. They know where your bank accounts are held. They claim that the criminals are employees of your banks and building societies and need cash withdrawing to obtain fingerprints. They say that they will deposit monies into those accounts for withdrawing, but that does not happen. They have someone collect the cash and credit cards, which are subsequently used to withdraw monies, in addition to the cash already withdrawn and handed over."

Please note that the police will NEVER:
 Ask you to withdraw cash
Ask for your credit or bank cards
 Ask for your PIN numbers
Ask you to withhold information from your bank as to why you are withdrawing the money

If you are in ANY doubt:
Ask a friend or relative for advice
 Call ACTION FRAUD on 0300 123 2040
Call the police on 101 or 999
Thank you
