Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

I would like to thank our Coordinator who asked for further information about MIND services. Christmas is often a difficult time for many but this year will be especially difficult especially for those who live on their own. Please can I ask that you share this information as the MIND Coordinator has requested. As Watch Coordinators and members we may well know a neighbour, family or friend that may benefit.

'Due to the recent announcements by the Government leaving people very unsettled around Christmas , this to let you know that Oxfordshire Mind services are available to anyone over the age of 16 - we have no upper age limit and have quite a few clients over the age of 90! [we do separate work with children through our children and young family's provision]. It just takes a quick call to book an appointment with a wellbeing worker and the majority of our work at the moment is done over the phone.

Often just taking through our problems and troubles can be a help in itself. Often being unable to talk things through leads to low mood and a sense of feeling helpless.

There is little wait time for appointments - sometimes a couple of days is all you would have to wait for a call.

The information service and Options sessions in particular offer a person the chance to talk through issues that are getting them down and possibly affecting sleep and appetite amongst other things. The session is a 30 min 1:1 call and during that time suggestions will be given. This is then followed up with a letter or email listing the information that was discussed on the call. 6 weeks later the person will get a call from Oxfordshire Mind again just checking in on them to see if they are ok and if we can support further. It is very informal and completely supportive to someone's wellbeing. There is no obligation to take up the suggestions - we just make sure people are left with some support.
