Appeal for witnesses following attempted robbery

Did you witness an attempted robbery in Whitley?

At 2.30pm on Monday (8/3) the victim, a 57-year-old man, was approached by a man he did not know in the alleyway connecting Kingsley Close and Swallowfield Drive in Whitley.

The man took hold of his jumper and demanded his money and phone.

The victim struck the man with his walking stick and punched him to get away. The victim sustained grazes to his knuckles.

The offender is described as a white man, aged in his thirties, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, with long dark shoulder length hair and a dark beard. He was wearing dark jeans and a denim jacket at the time of the incident.

We are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with any information about the incident should contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101 or make a report on our website, quoting the reference 43210097117.
