Subject: Appeal for witnesses following suspicious incidents in Bracken Bank North Ascot area


Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following two recent incidents in Bracken Bank of North Ascot.

At 2.00am on Tuesday 26  October an individual was recorded by a residents “Ring” doorbell camera having walked p the private driveway make an attempt to open their front door. Upon noticing the doorbell camera the individual made a swift departure. The individual was wearing a dark hooded top that concealed his face, and wearing gloves.
No damage was caused to the front door or property, and it is not known if this was an attempted burglary, or possibly an attempt to steal the resident’s car that was on the drive at the time.
At 4.00am on Sunday 31 October a residential security cctv camera captured an image of a similarly dressed individual stopping at the end of the drive and staring at the front of the house in Bracken Bank. The individual was seen to eventually walk off as he answered his mobile phone.

If you saw anything untoward or have CCTV or dashcam recordings of these or similar incidents occurring at either time, please contact Thames Valley Police either via the on-line reporting portal on the force website or by phoning 101 quoting crime incident 43210482868.

Most thieves do not want to be seen committing their crime, so look for dark or concealed locations to attack. Having a lamp that illuminates your front door/ porch discourages offenders. You can further reduce the risk of your home been targeted by ensuring that no one can get into side alleys or rear gardens, by simply making sure garden gates are kept locked shut. Topping your fence with trellis or purpose made anti climb studs or planting thorny shrubs such as Berberis mahonia, hollies or Pyracantha will discourage opportunists from attempting to climb over.
